Default Mobile Device Mailbox Policy

Basic Mobile Device Management for organisations that are small or who have BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies

The Risk

It is very common for employees to access Outlook on their mobile devices, whether they own or use a company-owned device. While this provides great flexibility for organisations, it can also leave them open to security risks.

It is common for personal devices to have weak security settings.

Lost or stolen devices can do untold harm to a business if an unauthorised user gains access to a user's mailbox.

The Challenge

Whether company-owned or personal, it is uncommon for the device to be managed or controlled by the organisation in most businesses. In many cases, the organisation may not even know about the device.

The Solution

Many of these risks can be greatly mitigated by restricting access to the Outlook Mobile App when certain reasonable security settings are not in place.

The Default Mobile Device Mailbox Policy does just this, and by carefully assigning best practices, it can balance business and security.
